APRIL 4, 2018
Meeting commenced at 8:02 AM in the Old Lyme Town Hall. Present: Bob Jose, John Stratton, Heather Gagnon, Joe Camean, Howard Marguilas
- March 7TH, 2018 minutes approved and accepted.
Lenny Corto brought the below concerns to the meeting in no particular order.
- Sugar shack- Plans Denied. Felt that Soundview project was a barrier. Wanted a driveway pull in. Town didn’t want a curb cut. Currently access is on alley way that runs behind. Can’t be publicly accessed. 2. Trying to add additional 7 spots for employees off street. Possible access through public lot.
- Why doesn’t the town want curb bump outs for property owners parking?
- Sound View Market – applied to have some tables outside 2016. Zoning approved. Soundview beach commission never granted the spots. Selectman never followed through. Started giving out free donuts and spots appeared.
- No Market
- No Sugar Shack
- No Waffle Bar
- Total of 22 parking spots on Hartford Avenue
- 74 public paid spots in lot
- Night time Business driving
- Lenny’s is on a decline – lost the ability to be profitable in a small amount of time.
- Fence at Miami Beach deeded as public access. Looks like a border wall. Town is taking no position. Why?
- No tenant for where the waffle bar was located and may not open carousel.
Discussed Inviting all Soundview business owners to present at upcoming meeting.
- Discussed and agreed on EDC Mission Statement to be voted on at next meeting:
“The Economic Development Commission supports economic growth and revitalization of existing businesses while attracting new commerce and cultural opportunities complementing the true spirit and character of the community, resulting in long-term employment and diversified economic base further benefiting quality of life for all who live and visit Old Lyme.

- Real Estate Update – Old Gas Station on 156 going up for Foreclosure Auction. Person interested wants to put large Liquor Store. Would put Rooney’s out of business.
